Dirk Gilmore is the Managing Director of Underwriting. His expertise in medical underwriting and his knowledge of the life settlement asset class provides unique insight into mortality prediction. His approach to medical underwriting is investigative and forensic and is particularly suited to high-stakes decisions.
Dirk has been an active advisor to the life settlement industry since 2005. He began working full-time in the industry in 2010 with the primary goal of providing more accurate longevity projections beyond what was available from third-party LE providers. Dirk has reviewed and provided longevity projections on thousands of individuals that represent over $50B of life insurance death benefits. During that time, he created proprietary mortality tables designed to reflect the longevity of the specific cohort of individuals who are participants in life settlement transactions. His life expectancy projections and mortality tables have proven to be substantially more accurate than industry standards. The portfolios for which he has overseen medical underwriting are performing at or above expectations.
